Login and other new features

There are a number of new features that are coming in the next couple of days.

The first, relatively simple, is that new puzzles have a button to allow people to see other publicly listed puzzles by the same author.

The bigger change is an entire added login system.

Graphical buttons

I have been asked, at times, for a somewhat prettier presentation.

I created some logos for the crossword and word scramble puzzles a few weeks ago.

Today I added graphical buttons along the left and for the “Make Puzzle” button at the bottom.

Let me know what you think of the changes.

Answer keys for crossword puzzles

Many of the crossword puzzles had lost their answer keys over time.

I went through and regenerated answer keys. Hopefully this will make doing those puzzles more satisfying.

Navigation in puzzle collections

I have added links on the titles for “author”, “title”, and “score” to make it easier for you to find puzzles within the puzzle collections.

Let me know if you see any problems.

PDF Output

A number of people have reported that PDF output gets clipped off on the top and the left margin.
I have made some changes that should fix this. I have also added a selection where you can select US Letter size paper or A4 paper used in many other places.
Let me know if you see any problems with the current changes.

Non-ASCII Characters in WordScramble

The word scramble puzzle generator had trouble with some of the French characters (and undoubtedly many other languages).

I have fixed that, and added a test to the regression test suite so that I will hopefully see the issue if I break that in the future.

New Logos

I came across the Wordle web site and really enjoyed it.

I’ve been lacking a nice banner for the wordscramble and crossword pages and thought the wordle idea might make a nice fit.  Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to figure out how to use the wordle site automatically so implemented a simplistic version for my own needs.
